MCEM Travel Grants

The Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy is pleased to offer the 2024-25 round of MCEM Travel Grants. These grants aim to financially support Monash University postgraduate students and early career researchers with an MCEM academic supervisor to travel to a conference or a scientific laboratory. The current round is for travelling during the period of 1 September 2024 to 30 September 2025.
Eligibility:
The candidate must be either:
- a Ph.D. student currently enrolled at Monash University, or
- an Early Career Researcher (i.e. PhD conferred less than 5 years before the application date) employed by Monash University.
At least one of the candidate’s supervisors must be a member of MCEM’s academic staff.
Selection Criteria:
The candidate must show evidence that they presented / will present:
- a talk or poster at a conference.
- a seminar during their visit to a laboratory.
- work involving electron microscopy.
Value of Grants:
A maximum of 8 grants valued up to $5000 (international) and up to $2000 (domestic) each will be offered.
Application Process:
The following information should be sent to mcem@monash.edu :
- A cover letter detailing the travel to be supported by the grant.
- A budget indicating incurred costs (for past travel) or estimated costs (for future travel).
- The budget should be supported by receipts (for past travel) or quotes (for future travel).
- Evidence that a talk/seminar/poster was/will be presented.
The successful applicants will be contacted within one month of the application deadline.
