ACICIS Semester-length Programs

The Australian Consortium for ‘In-Country’ Indonesian Studies (ACICIS – pronounced Ah-chee-chis, as an Indonesian would say it) is a non-profit international educational consortium. ACICIS is the longest running provider of in-country Indonesian study programs and the primary mechanism through which Australian students pursue study in Indonesia for academic credit.

Semester-length programs

ACICIS offer various semester-length programs, running in both Semester 1 and Semester 2. The topics covered by these semester-length programs include Indonesian language, business, development and agriculture.

Important Note:

The OS-HELP loan (if applicable) will be paid approximately 4 weeks prior to program commencement. These funds, therefore, should not be considered as your primary source of funding to pay program related deposits and balances.

New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility Grants

ACICIS offers varying levels of New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility grants (from $3000 to $7000) to eligible students. Please see here to see the amount of available NCP funding for each ACICIS program. Please note that students who accept this grant will not be eligible for the Monash Abroad grant.

ACICIS are responsible for selecting students and managing grant payments. Please contact ACICIS via enquiries@acicis.edu.au should you have any questions regarding their NCP Mobility grants.

OS-HELP Loan

OS-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan program that provides financial assistance to eligible Commonwealth Supported Place students, to undertake some of their study overseas.

If you are eligible for the loan and wish to apply, please submit your application as per the relevant OS-HELP loan term deadline, even if you have not been accepted into your overseas program by that deadline.

IMPORTANT - Do not pay the program deposit or organise flights until you have:

  • received host (ACICIS) acceptance;
  • received full study plan approval from your faculty(ies); and
  • been enrolled into the associated study abroad unit(s)

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply to Monash Abroad

You must submit both the Application for Overseas Study and the Study Plan in order to be considered.

Step 2: Apply to ACICIS

After you have been approved for credit, you can apply through the ACICIS website before their deadline. Keep in mind all ACICIS application deadlines as published on the ACICIS website.

Tuition fees

You are responsible for paying the tuition fee directly to ACICIS as you are being enrolled into a Study Abroad unit which does not have any Monash tuition fees attached. As you are being enrolled into this is a Study Abroad program, enrolment for it at Monash which does not have any Monash tuition fees attached, it is a placeholder unit only. The tuition fee cannot be deferred via FEE-HELP.
