First Steps Sessions
Compulsory for all students applying for a semester exchange or study abroad program
The first step to take when considering a global experience is to watch the Monash Abroad First Steps series. Viewing these videos is compulsory to be considered for a semester exchange or study abroad program. Students considering a Monash-led program (such as the Global Immersion Guarantee or Monash Global Campus Intensive) are not required to watch these videos.
In these videos we’ll cover:
- types of programs available
- whether you are eligible
- how to register for semester exchange and study abroad
- the application process
Our First Steps series for 2022 is now available for viewing and can be accessed here.
Regional Advising Sessions
Compulsory for students applying for semester exchange
Regional Advising Sessions introduce you to semester exchange opportunities for the areas of the world in which you are interested. These are led by the relevant International Education Coordinator (IEC), who talk you through all the information you need to know about the various partners in that region. You can watch these videos in your own time, after which you’ll be able to book in for a Group Advising Session. To be eligible to submit an application, you’ll need to have viewed the Regional Advising Session video for the region of the institution you plan to place as your first preference in your application.
The Regional Advising Sessions for 2022 are now available for viewing and can be accessed here.
Group and Individual Advising Sessions
Recommended for students applying for semester exchange
Group Advising Sessions
Group Advising Sessions are weekly, live seminars run by the relevant IEC for the region, where you’ll be able to ask questions and find out more detailed information about your chosen exchange destination. These will be held via Zoom and are limited to 30 participants per session. Attendance at a Group Advising Session is not compulsory, but is strongly recommended.
If you are choosing a 'Red' institution as your first preference, or you need advice specific to your individual circumstances, you will need to book a 1:1 Zoom session with the relevant IEC.
Click on the region you're interested in below, to access the booking links for Group Advising and 1:1 Advising sessions. Please note that these sessions are only for students applying for semester exchange or independent study abroad (ISA) programs, not short-term, virtual or global campus programs.
Appointments for both the Group Advising Sessions and the 1:1 Advising will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Study Plan and other key resources
For students applying for semester exchange
The study plan is one of the most important elements of the application process. If you are already familiar with this step you need to be aware that we have recently made significant changes to streamline the process for both students and faculties/schools. Even if you've applied for exchange or ISA previously, you need to watch the study plan video and download the resources you need to submit your study plan.
We also have a range of other resources to help you submit the best possible application.
