Research Focus
My PhD focuses on antibacterial coatings for orthopaedic implants. Current implant coatings intended to prevent implant-associated infections (IAIs) often fall short due to limited biostability or durability, and a lack of tunable delivery of active agents. To address this issue, my research aims to develop optimized antibacterial coatings aiming AMR pathogens. The plan is to apply novel organometallic complexes loaded coatings to titanium substrates to determine optimal drug loading levels for effective bacterial inhibition, including drug-resistant strains, while ensuring non-toxicity to mammalian cells.
