Victor leads the Applied Micro and Nanotechnology Lab and strives to develop novel technologies driven by concrete applications. Victor and his research team develop scalable customer-based technologies and integrated systems as solutions to scientific and technological challenges. These include micro-optical, photonic and integrated optics devices, (bio)sensors, micro-mechanical systems, novel engineered surfaces and bio-surfaces and advanced silicon and polymer based micro/nano-technologies. To address the challenge of AMR, Victor is developing microsystems and sensors for the early detection and identification of microbes and bio-inspired nano surfaces that disrupt microbial colonisation and interactions. These surfaces could be applied to different environments such as hospital surfaces.
A/Prof Cadarso is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Applied Micro and Nano Technology Lab Group in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Monash University and Chair of the Engineering Early Career Researchers Committee. Victor has a Degree in Physics, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Physics at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. He obtained a Marie Curie Fellowship at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland and went on to become an Ambizione Fellow at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), Switzerland before joining Monash. He has actively participated in different international research and industrial projects, resulting in the commercialisation of novel products and the cofounding of a start-up company.
