Supervisor Masterclasses (PBA Approved)
All psychologists applying to become Board-approved supervisors must have successfully completed a Board-approved training program in psychology supervision. Board-approved supervisors need to complete a minimum of one master class every five years to update their knowledge and skills. Requirements for supervisors can be found here.
Monash University runs at least one day-long Master Class each year (approved by the Psychology Board of Australia) designed to advance knowledge and skills of clinical supervisors.

Supervision of neuropsychology trainees: Incorporating reflective practice
A Psychology Board of Australia Approved Masterclass
Thursday, 12th September 2024
While many supervisor competencies will be common across specialities of psychology there is a recognition that areas of speciality such as neuropsychology require specific training for supervisors to support the greater focus on assessment, report writing, differential diagnosis, assessment feedback and brief interventions.
This workshop aims to provide specialist knowledge and skills to supervisors of neuropsychology trainees and will focus on a range of supervisor competencies with relevance to the neuropsychology setting. The workshop will have an emphasis on reflective practice and how this can benefit your supervisory approach. There will be regular opportunities for group discussion and practical tasks. Focus is given to the supervision of neuropsychologist trainees, however, the training may also be relevant to the supervision of qualified neuropsychologists or psychologists in other disciplines that have an emphasis on assessment.
The aims of this masterclass are to enhance:
- Knowledge of reflective practice as an essential professional competency for psychologists.
- Knowledge of reflective practice models and methods.
- kills and confidence in using reflective practice in your supervision and encouraging reflective skills in supervisees.
- Engagement with and learning from other supervisors

Presenters
| Dr Adam McKay Adam is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University and Head of Psychology at Epworth HealthCare. He is a Board approved supervisor and has been supervising trainees and employees for 15 years in neuropsychological assessment and intervention. He is passionate about supporting both supervisors and students to ensure clinical training is effective, supportive and rewarding. |
| Linda Williamson Linda is a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Neuropsychologist at Monash University. She is a Board- approved supervisor and leads the Adult Neuropsychology Clinic at the Turner Clinics, where postgraduate students provide neuropsychological assessments to the community. She is also the placement coordinator for the Monash neuropsychology program and supervises neuropsychologists in the application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy across diverse clinical settings. |
