Masterclasses

Psychology Masterclasses

An engaging way to learn

All undergraduate psychology students are introduced to a flexible, interactive mode of study in which they are not required to attend weekly lectures. Instead, students studying in PSY1011 Psychology 1A and PSY1022 Psychology 1B will have access to online learning resources, such as online workbooks containing videos by experts in the field supplemented with explanatory information, activities to enhance understanding, and discussion opportunities with peers.

Students can attend tutorial classes together with optional, recommended Masterclass workshops, which showcase new psychology innovations, learnings and opportunities.

What are Masterclasses?

Masterclasses comprise both in-class exercises and presentations expanding on topics covered in workbooks, to provide greater insight and highlight current research in the field. Attendance at Masterclass workshops is not compulsory and can be attended either in person or via live streaming.

With core content delivered through the workbooks and complemented through the Masterclasses, tutorials provide students with an opportunity to apply and explore concepts in an active, engaging manner. Students are able to attend either physical tutorials on-campus, or online tutorials (i.e., virtual classes in real-time) each week.

Flexible teaching benefits

Learning through core content delivery via e-Workbooks and offers convenience, flexibility and opportunities for interaction with your peers.

Convenient times - traditional tutorial classes are available only during business hours and require attendance on-campus, whereas students studying in the flexible mode can choose from either a daytime or an evening tutorial class

Study wherever you have access to the internet and a laptop- study at home, at a library, or another place which you find to be most conducive to study and learning

Work through workbooks at any time of the week- this is particularly convenient option for those working part-time or have other work or life commitments.

Study at your own pace- you can choose to pause and replay videos, revisit and review written narrative and attempt learning exercises at your discretion.

Modern and contemporary - e-learning has been embraced in both academia and clinical fields. Students who undertake studies in the flexible mode will be equipped to undertake postgraduate studies online in the future.
