Cheers to Careers
Monash Health Science Society (MHSS) and the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM) were thrilled to bring back Cheers to Careers for the first time since 2023! Sponsored by Funday Natural Sweets®, this event hosted an inspiring evening of career exploration and connection at Monash Caulfield Campus, Building K.

The night was emceed by MHSS President Gabrielle Sullivan and Vice President Hanan Oumer, who guided attendees through a dynamic alumni panel featuring Liam Cahill, Roshika Kumar, Keera Weise and Hayley Carmichael. The panellists shared their diverse career journeys, discussing the many pathways available to Bachelor of Health Sciences and Bachelor of Public Health graduates, both with and without postgraduate study, and showing that each route can lead to fulfilling and impactful careers.
Alumni encouraged current students to stay confident, stay curious and get involved, noting the value of building networks and exploring opportunities while at university. Audience members were highly engaged, asking thoughtful career-focused questions, with some attending as part of their Placement unit.
Following the panel, attendees enjoyed dinner and took part in networking activities designed to spark conversations about their skills, interests and career goals. The lively discussions continued well into the evening as students, alumni and peers connected over shared aspirations.
Approximately 56 undergraduate health sciences and public health students, and staff members from the SPHPM attend Cheers to Careers in 2025. 81% per cent of the attendees found that the panel was the most enjoyable aspect of the evening, covering "a diverse range of occupations" and a "fantastic experience" hearing from health professionals working in the health sector today.
The MHSS and SPHPM look forward to hosting Cheers to Careers in the future, as well as more networking opportunities for Monash’s future health experts!
