Viewing platforms
A variety of platforms are used at Monash to host video content. The two major platforms currently in use are Panopto and Echo360, both of which have advanced features to help you actively engage in the recorded content, including in-built note-making features which make it easy to type your notes while watching the recording without needing to have a seperate program open.
Additional platforms used at Monash include Vimeo and YouTube. Videos can also be directly uploaded to Moodle itself using an in-built media player. These platforms do not have in-built note-making features, so plan and experiment with your note-making setup to develop a system that works well for you.
NoteThe discussion feature in Panopto and Echo360 is primarily used during live-streaming to interact with classmates and moderators. If you are viewing a recording you can still use the feature to make comments for other viewers to see. However, moderators may not be able to regularly check pre-recorded videos, so if your message is directed towards your unit’s teaching staff, it is better to post your question in the forums on Moodle. |
Click on the names of the platforms below for information on how to access recordings in Panopto and Echo360, and how to use their advanced features.
