To avoid mis-deliveries, and to ensure that we receive your parcels reliably and as soon as possible residents are advised to ensure that all mail and parcels are addressed as below:

Please note that MRS will only accept mail that is addressed to your name as it appears in your record at MRS, and any mail addressed with an incorrect or missing name will not be accepted.

CLAYTON

Letters

  • Your mailbox is located in the common area on the ground floor of your building and is labelled with your room number.
  • All incoming mail is delivered to the Administration Office. and letters are usually delivered to your mailbox by 3pm, Monday to Friday.
  • The Administration Office cannot accept responsibility for mail once it has been delivered to the mail boxes. We encourage you to use a padlock on your mailbox for security.
  • If you find any letters in your mailbox that are not addressed to you, please return them to the Administration Office.

Parcels and large items

  • Any large parcels or items that require a signature will be held at the Administration Office (Building 47) or (Building 87) depending where you live in either the Residential Village or Urban Community for 7 (seven) days from the date of receipt,
  • You will receive an email from us when a parcel is ready to collect.
  • To collect your parcel, you will need to present your photo identification at the office.
  • We will hold your parcel at the office for seven days. After this time, we may need to return your parcel to the sender
  • The Administration Office cannot store items on behalf of its residents.

The Administration Office will not accept responsibility to hold mail whilst you are away from MRS and you should ensure you make appropriate arrangements.

Please ensure that you do not allow your friends to get their mail and parcels addressed to your room at MRS, as MRS will return the mail to sender if we cannot verify the addressee as living in an MRS residence.

24/7 Parcel Lockers

  • Australia Post also offer free 24/7 Parcel Lockers located in the Campus Centre (21 Chancellors Walk). You can choose to have your parcel sent to a free 24/7 parcel locker and collect it at any hour day or night.

Post office - Australia post

  • An Australia Post Licensed Post Office is located in the Campus Centre and provides a full range of postal service; including domestic and international sending, and packing materials.
PENINSULA

Letters

  • Residential Village - Mail is delivered directly to residents’ mailboxes at the residences by Australia Post.
  • Gillies Hall - You have been allocated a mailbox that is located in the common area on the ground floor of your hall. Your mailbox is the same number as your room number. MRS staff will deliver letters to these mailboxes usually by 3pm Monday to Friday. MRS will only deliver mail addressed to our residents.  Any article without a name or a name of a non-resident will not be delivered to the mailboxes.
  • The Residential Office cannot accept responsibility for mail once it has been delivered to the mail boxes. We do suggest that residents purchase a padlock to secure their mailbox.
  • If you receive any mail that has been incorrectly placed in your mailbox, please return these items to the Administration Office mailbox.
  • The Residential Office will not accept responsibility to hold mail whilst you are away from Monash Residential Services and you should ensure you make appropriate arrangements.

Parcels 

  • MRS at Peninsula cannot accept parcels for residents. These parcels will be returned.
  • If you live in the Residential Village Australia Post may leave a collection card if you aren't home with details of where to collect your parcel.

24/7 Parcel Lockers

  • Australia Post offer free 24/7 Parcel Lockers located close to Gillies Hall on the walkway to MPARC. You can choose to have your parcel sent to a free 24/7 parcel locker and collect it at any hour day or night.

  • An Australia Post Licensed Post Office is located in at Heatherhill Road Frankston and provides a full range of postal service including domestic and international sending, and packing materials.

Fresh food delivery

CLAYTON

For supermarket or food deliveries (Fresh food or long shelf life); including Coles, Woolworths, Hello Fresh or similar deliveries the MRS Administration Office can receive your items.

MRS will contact you via email to advise you of your delivery. You must be able to collect your delivery within 30 minutes of delivery due to the perishable nature (Fresh Food) of the items. MRS does not have facilities (refrigeration) to store perishable items appropriately.

This delivery option may change at any time, if so residents will be advised accordingly. The above does not include Uber eats, Menulog, Doordash and other cooked food or fast food deliveries

PENINSULA

For residents of Gillies Hall only, supermarket or food deliveries (Fresh food or long shelf life); including Coles, Woolworths, Hello Fresh or similar deliveries the MRS Residential Office can receive your items between 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday (excluding University Holidays).

MRS will contact you via phone and advise you of your delivery. You must be able to collect your delivery within 30 minutes of delivery due to the perishable nature (Fresh Food) of the items.

MRS does not have facilities (refrigeration) to store perishable items appropriately. This delivery option may change at any time, if so residents will be advised accordingly.

The above does not include Uber eats, Menulog, Doordash and other cooked food or fast food deliveries.

Residential Village residents can have their fresh food deliveries made directly to their residence door, as such these deliveries will not be accepted at the MRS Residential Office for Residential Village residents.


Mailbox (Clayton only)

A mail drop off service for posting mail is provided throughout the year and is located at the Administration Office (Building 47 – 58 College Way). The mail box is emptied by the Administration Office staff and redirected to the university’s mail room for processing. Please ensure the correct value of stamps are put on your mail.


Departing & forwarding mail

To assist us and yourself, when you leave Monash Residential Services you should do the following:

  • Remove all your mail and paddock from the mailbox. Padlocks found on the mailboxes after departure will be removed by the Administration Office. Any mail left in the mailbox after departure will be removed from the mailbox and returned to sender via Australia Post.  MRS accepts no liability for mis-delivery of any mail returned to sender.
  • Make sure you provide (clearly) your forwarding address when completing the Monash Residential Services Departure Form.
  • Make sure you advise your family, friends, business and other associates of your new mailing address as soon as possible.
  • Make sure all parcels that have not arrived by your departure date are redirected to an alternate address.

If you depart and do not advise us of your forwarding address, the Administration Office will stamp any further mail it receives on your behalf  with  ‘NO  LONGER AT  THIS ADDRESS RETURN  TO SENDER’.

Whilst not obliged to, as a gesture of goodwill, the MRS Administration Office will:

  • Redirect your mail (not parcels) for two (2) weeks after you have left MRS provided that advise us of your forwarding address. Please note that we do not forward parcels for students after departure due to the high risk of mis-delivery.
  • After the two-week period, the Administration Office will stamp any further mail it receives on your behalf with ‘NO LONGER AT THIS ADDRESS RETURN TO SENDER’.

Parcels cannot be held for you until you return the following year and will not be handed over to a third party.

It should be noted that  whilst mail (not parcels) received would be re-addressed two  (2)  weeks after you have left, Monash Residential Services is dependent on the services offered by Australia Post. If you have not received your mail you should contact Australia Post. Monash Residential Services does not accept any responsibility for items that go missing.

Section 3. (a) of the Terms and Conditions of Australia Post’s CHANGE OF ADDRESS REQUEST Form states:

“Australia Post may refuse to redirect or hold mail (or part of the mail) where:

  • it could be difficult to isolate the mail from other mail delivered to the same address (e.g. where the address is a business premises, block of  apartments or  flats, motel,  caravan park or premises having a common post box).”
