Profile:
Imalda graduated from Monash University in 2011, receiving the Australian Institute of Radiography Prize for achieving the highest aggregate marks in the Master of Medical Radiations (Radiation Therapy) program. She began her career as a qualified radiation therapist with Queensland Health before transitioning into academia within the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences at Monash University. Her commitment to enhancing student learning later led her to undertake an additional role as a Learning Advisor (2020–2022) within the Student Academic Success team in the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education).
Throughout her academic career, Imalda has designed and delivered interactive learning experiences for both the Bachelor of Radiation Science (BRS) and the Master of Radiation Therapy (MRT) distance‑learning graduate entry program. She also established an intensive scientific writing and communication stream within the Master of Biomedical Science (MBiomedSc) degree.
Imalda is experienced in both face‑to‑face and online teaching and adopts blended learning and flipped classroom approaches to support student engagement. She is proficient in the Virtual Environment for Radiotherapy Training (VERT) simulation platform and in digital learning tools such as Moodle and PebblePad. Her expertise in online pedagogy enabled her to implement a streamlined, paperless clinical assessment system for radiation therapy students across national and international clinical sites.
Imalda plays a leading role in developing Professional and Continuing Education in Radiation Therapy (PACE‑RT) short courses for practising Radiation Therapists and Medical Radiation Practitioners. She also coordinates the development of the Monash University Critical Care Ultrasound (MUCCU) initiative, a joint partnership with major Victorian and interstate health services to deliver a suite of micro‑credential ultrasound short courses. As a member of the PACE sub‑committee, Imalda contributes to the oversight, monitoring, and strategic development of both non‑award short courses and award‑bearing micro‑credential professional education programs delivered across the Faculty.
Recently, Imalda was awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), an international professional recognition that acknowledges excellence in teaching and supporting learning in higher education, demonstrating her sustained commitment to the professional standards framework through practice, impact, and leadership.
