Profile
I graduated from RMIT with a bachelor’s degree in 1997 (when it was the only RT course in Victoria), followed by a Master of Health Science and Doctor of Health Science from the University of Sydney in 2002 and 2006 respectively. I am a strong advocate for lifelong learning and have subsequently continued to develop skills through the successful completion of two Cert IV’s (Leadership and management, and Workplace training and assessment), as well as expanding my research skills through workshops and training packages.
Prior to joining Monash, I worked as a management level RT in both private and public hospitals throughout Victoria. I was the first radiation therapist in Australia to hold a clinical research RT position, the first to be awarded a clinical fellowship, and the first clinical radiation therapist to complete a doctorate.
I joined Monash in 2013 and have held a variety of roles in teaching, administration, clinical convening and HDR research supervision. In 2020 I proud to be part of the RT team awarded the Dean’s Award for Educational Excellence for our innovative development of cloud-based RT skills packages to better prepare students for clinical placement (Eclipse RT planning).
I have been an HDR supervisor at Monash since 2014, after previous experience supervising Honours students at RMIT and registrar projects at Peter Mac. I have authored/co-authored 25+ peer reviewed papers in respected journals, presented numerous papers or posters at national and international conferences (including as an invited guest speaker), chaired workshops and conference sessions, and have been the recipient or co-recipient in 4 grants.
Professionally, I have been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Medical Radiation Sciences (JMRS) since 2014, and a long-standing founding member of the Australian and New Zealand Medical Radiation Research Network (ANZMMRN 2012 to present). I am a member of ASMIRT, TROG and a registered practitioner with the MRPBA.
Despite moving overseas with my family in 2021, I currently supervise 3 PhD candidates and 2 MPhil candidates and enjoy guiding them on the start of their research journey.
