Imelda accepted her current position of senior lecturer at Monash University from March 2012, bringing with her international experiences gained in South Africa and the United Kingdom. Imelda completed her PhD studies through Monash University with her thesis entitled: ‘Meeting Expectations: Opportunities and Challenges for Radiographers in The Current Regulatory Environment ‘. Until recently she has been the Course Convenor for the Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging (Honours). Over the years she has contributed to numerous conferences and workshops nationally and internationally and has numerous publications in radiography journals. She is a reviewer for the Journal of Medical Radiation Sciences (Australia) and the “South African Radiographer” journal. As an invited speaker, she delivered the keynote address on ‘Advanced practice in medical imaging sciences’ at the Southeast Asian Conference for radiographers held in Bangkok and conducted image interpretation workshops at the conference. She had been an invited speaker to Sweden where she delivered workshops in image interpretation to radiographers in hospital clinics, clinical tutors and academics at Lund and Jönköping universities and at the Rὂntgenveckan National conference in Gothenburg. She acted as an international external examiner for Masters’ Theses from the University in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has been the project lead for three related projects with The Department of Health, Queensland. At Monash University she has been a co-facilitator in the inaugural “Research in Excellence” seminar held to encourage research within the radiography profession. She has been a member of the ‘MRPBA Workforce Innovation and Reform Working Party’. She is an invited member of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) international expert group, contributing to the development of a White Paper on Radiographer Education, Research and Practice for the next decade.
