Health Services and Implementation
Health Services and Implementation
We bring together multidisciplinary experts, health professionals and consumers to understand health and social care access and experiences, and to design and implement systems-level changes that deliver better user experiences and outcomes, with equity and efficiency embedded in their core.
Our focus areas
Research units
Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre
We conduct pivotal, large scale research projects in critical care, and build research capacity in the field. Our work has revolutionised clinical practice and service delivery globally, saving and improving countless lives.
Director
Centre of Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics
A multidisciplinary team undertaking clinical and applied research with the aim of improving care for cardiac patients through a range of settings, including pre-hospital, hospital, and as rehab outpatients.
Co-Directors
Climate, Air Quality Research
Our team conducts modelling of the impact of unmitigated climate change on human health, to inform planning for resilient health services able to meet the climate-driven health challenges of the immediate future.
Head of Unit
Department of General Practice
We conduct a wide range of practice-relevant and implementation research, and leverage strong relationships with policy influencers to drive innovation, safety, efficacy, and efficiency in primary care.
Head of Department
Health and Social Care
With a strong emphasis on implementation science, we work at the intersection of public health, psychology, social sciences, clinical care, and communications, generating evidence that guides policies and programs that support good health in community-based settings.
Head of Unit
Health Economics
Our research builds evidence around the most efficient allocation of constrained resources, enabling health leaders to make decisions that drive more sustainable, efficient health and social care services that have wider benefits in communities.
Head of Unit
Healthy Working Lives
We work with diverse partners and consumers to design kinder, fairer workers’ compensation and social care systems and return-to-work pathways for injured workers.
Head of Unit
Musculoskeletal Health
We conduct high-quality clinical research and drive translation of evidence into practice and policy change for improved musculoskeletal and general healthcare, and work to reduce low-value interventions that stymie sustainable healthcare systems.
Head of Unit
Pharmacoepidemiology
We evaluate quality of medicine use, system resilience and patient‑centred outcomes, co‑design tools to support clinical decision‑making, and lead translational research to embed evidence‑based practices across primary care and broader health services.
Head of Research Group
Pre-hospital, Emergency and Trauma Research
We conduct research that strengthens care for trauma and emergency patients. Our team manages clinical quality registries, and we develop and trial novel workflows and interventions to improve clinical outcomes for these patients.
Head of Unit
Transfusion Research
We conduct a broad range of research to understand current use of blood products and anticipate future needs, facilitating the best use of these most precious resources across Australian health services.
