Wright group

Translational Neuroimaging & Biomarker Discovery

Overview/Mission

The Wright Group develops and applies advanced imaging methods and quantitative biomarkers to accelerate therapeutic discovery and improve the understanding of complex brain diseases, including motor neurone disease (ALS), traumatic brain injury (TBI), neurodegeneration and related disorders.

Our research integrates cutting-edge MRI techniques, fluid biomarkers and histopathology within multi-site, multi-disciplinary frameworks to identify mechanistic biomarkers of disease severity, progression and therapeutic response. We combine expertise in quantitative imaging, image analysis, preclinical modelling and translational research to bridge discovery science and therapeutic development.

Core Research Themes

  • Translational Neuroimaging

Development and application of high-resolution MRI methods to characterise microstructure, fluid pathways, and network integrity in neurological disease.

  • Biomarker Discovery

Identification of quantitative imaging and fluid biomarkers reflecting disease mechanisms, clearance pathways and therapeutic effects.

  • Therapeutic Translation

Integration of imaging and biomarker endpoints into preclinical therapeutic development pipelines, including neuromodulation and clearance-enhancement strategies.

  • Multi-site Research Platforms

Harmonised imaging and analysis pipelines across national and international research collaborators.
