Pharmacy Library
CL Butchers Pharmacy Library was expanded and refurbished to provide more space, more computers and a training room. The new library is more reflective of the University’s status.

The refurbishment of the CL Butchers Pharmacy Library was completed in 2008. The brightly coloured entrance signals its contemporary design.

The refurbished library is technologically enabled and well equipped for students.

Modern artworks give the library a vibrant and creative atmosphere.

Signage and furniture used in the Pharmacy Library match that used at other Monash University libraries that have been refurbished.

Red is used to highlight service areas in the refurbished library, as it is at the Hargrave-Andrew Library, the first branch refurbished in the Monash University Library style.

Computers are an essential need of the modern student. The Library provides Monash students with access to information essential for their study in electronic form wherever possible.

Information research and learning skills are a key part of a student's academic success. Librarians and learning skills advisers at Pharmacy and other libraries can advise students on how to tackle an assignment or how to improve their academic skills.

Reference and Reserve materials are stored together in easily accessible low-line shelving.

The artworks on display in the library offer different views of the human body – they include the social, the cellular and the humorous. Prominently displayed in the group study area are Donna Bailey's large photographic portraits of her daughter Zoe, a member of Generation Y. Seen here:
Bailey, Donna, Mulberry lips 2003. 105.5 x 129.5cm. Type C photographic print. Monash University Collection.

The bright forms of the cushions in these artworks are like luscious pills; the buttons at the centre of each cushion suggest the soft form of the body they are made to receive.
Trengrove, Jane, Square cushion 1993 and Round Cushion 1993. Each 90.0 x 90.0 cm. Oil on board. Monash University Collection.

The close study of the natural world is the subject of four framed collages by Fiona MacDonald. The study of pharmaceutical properties and the benefits of plants have long been connected.
MacDonald, Fiona. Moss, Furnitory & wall flower, Pansy, and Bramble (1993-4). Each 46.0 x 35.5 cm. Offset print collage. Monash University Collection.
