Give to the Library

By donating to the Library, you help us expand our services, embrace new technologies and enrich our public collections for everyone's benefit.

The Library is at the heart of learning, research and discovery, and is constantly evolving to meet the needs of students, researchers and our wider community. Every gift directly strengthens the spaces, services and technologies that empower people to learn, create and discover. Your generosity helps us stay innovative and responsive. Here's how you can help.

Financial gifts

Your donation can improve outcomes for students, staff and the community, through the purchase of academic and special collections, rare and unique items, creation of digital library collections or improvements to Library learning environments and resources.

Rare or special items

Whilst we don’t accept donations to the general collection, we welcome offers of material for our Special Collections if they enhance the collection and support the University’s teaching or research.

We only accept:

  • suitable rare and obscure books, and
  • non-book items.

We do not accept:

  • textbooks,
  • mainstream academic titles,
  • print journals and other readily available works,
  • copies of items already in the collection,
  • encyclopedias and dictionaries,
  • items in poor or fragile condition.

Special Collections guidelines outlines our strategy, collecting priorities, and the criteria we use to assess donations for suitability.

Email us at librarians@monash.edu about any potential donations before sending items to the Library.
