Register your unique ORCID ID
Check if you already have an ORCID ID
Not sure if you have an ORCID record? Go to the ORCID website and search for your name in the search box.
If you find a record that belongs to you, do not register another ORCID ID. You should only have one ORCID ID. Instead, use your existing ID and keep your record up to date.
If you have accidentally created more than one ORCID ID, you can consolidate your records into a single ID.
We recommend linking your ORCID record to a personal email address so you can retain access to it throughout your career, even if you change employers.
Register a new ORCID ID
Anyone can create an ORCID, and it is free. Go to the ORCID website and select Register in the top right.
Your ORCID profile will require a password – think of it before you start.
The registration form will ask for:
- your name
- email address(es)
- employment details (optional)
- your preferred profile visibility setting.
