New grants to boost access and equity to quality educational resources
Monash University Library has announced new grants for Monash educators to adapt or create Open Educational Resources (OERs).
We’re excited to offer grants to support academics in both publishing an openly licensed textbook, and to find open textbooks to replace commercially licensed texts on reading lists.
The aim of this new funding program is to support projects that promote student equity and success by helping students access the textbooks and other learning materials they need for their studies without cost.
There are two grant categories available are for:
How do I apply for a grant?
The grants are available to those at Monash University who match the eligibility and selection criteria. You can read more about each grant category and what you need to apply on our website.
A maximum of four grants of up to $10,000 are available for Monash academics for creating or adapting an OER textbook.
To apply for the Create/Adapt grant fill out our Expression of Interest form
Five grants of $1,000 are available for Monash academics to assign OERs in units and courses in place of costly commercial or restrictively licensed texts.

After you have submitted the form make sure you attach evidence of Faculty Deputy Dean Education (or representative) approval to an email and send to kay.tucker@monash.edu
When do I need to apply?
Expressions of interest need to be submitted by:
- 5pm Monday 24 March 2025 for the Creating or Adapting an OER Textbook Grant
Applicants will be notified about the outcome by the week of 1 April 2025.
- 5pm Thursday 24 April 2025 for the OER Adopt Program grant
Applicants will be notified about the outcome by the week of 1 May 2025.
