Showcase your digital outputs

Showcase your digital outputs

Publish your outputs like policy submissions, commissioned reports, software programs and creative works on Monash’s secure platform Bridges to showcase and track the impact of your work.

Bridges: Monash’s open archive

Bridges is an open archive supported by the Monash University Library. It enables you to  publish and share digital outputs that don’t fit the typical scholarly model. These are often referred to as non-traditional research outputs (NTROs).

Uploading to Bridges is particularly effective for content aimed at industry, media or professional groups as it enables your audience to access your work by googling and  without a paywall.

The archive supports a wide range of file types and has been used by researchers to publish everything from images and multimedia to conference papers and speeches.

Use Bridges to get a DOI and track your metrics

Each item uploaded to Bridges is assigned a unique and persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This allows you to track how your work is shared in the public sphere through platforms like Altmetrics and Overton – which are both available through Library. Items on Bridges are also discoverable by Google.

Curating these non-traditional outputs brings attention back to your traditional outputs – and has been shown to increase both citations and visibility.

What about PURE?

PURE is the University’s research management system and institutional repository that records your research publications, projects, interests and broader activities. It is what populates your public Monash researcher profile. PURE is vital to internal reporting, approvals, academic promotions and funding applications. Use PURE to publish your author-accepted manuscripts and meet your open access requirements from funding bodies like the ARC and NHMRC. This also helps you avoid creating duplicate sets of metrics for your traditional outputs.

For your non-traditional research outputs, first upload your outputs and data to Bridges. This will give you a DOI that can then be included in PURE.
