This unit may count as a capstone or an elective unit in your undergraduate or graduate degree.
Selected students will be enrolled in unit BEX3725 or BEX5725 for the T1-57 teaching period. This unit may count towards your postgraduate or undergraduate degree as a major, capstone or elective unit.
This future-oriented study seminar will investigate business models in the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In doing so, it aims to develop a systems-mind set amongst students, providing them with an opportunity to explore multiple ways of doing business, diverse forms of corporate reporting and site-specific case visits to leading innovative German industry partners incorporating robotics, logistics, agriculture and sustainable consultancy industries.
The study seminar aims to work across multiple disciplines - business, arts and science - to bring new insights to complex business problems. Students are provided with the opportunity to bring their conceptual understanding to real-world scenarios, applying design methodology and integrated thinking to solve business problems. This unit requires students to examine a broad range of social, cultural, legal and political issues that can impact the strategy and operations of businesses operating in a global business environment. Through the use of readings, case studies, and an analysis of current events students are confronted with some specific challenges of doing business in a global context. This unit focuses on developing skills, addressing various global issues and how they affect business, as well as aspects of global citizenship, cultural sensitivity and effective teamwork.

Program Costs
Program Cost: $1500 AUD
Deposit Payment: $750 AUD (non-refundable; payable within 72 hours of offer acceptance)
Final Payment: $750 AUD (due 19 September 2026)
Refund policy
Program fees are generally non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances as determined by Monash Business School. Circumstances that will not be considered exceptional include (but are not limited to):
- Failure to secure an appropriate visa
- Withdrawal after committing to another study experience
- Change of mind.
Students should carefully consider their availability and commitment before accepting an offer.
What’s included in the program fee:
- Twin-share accommodation for the duration of the program, including daily breakfast (single rooms may be available at an additional cost)
- A curated program of company and organisation visits
- Academic sessions and experiential learning activities
- All in-country transport for scheduled program activities
- Welcome and farewell functions
- Complimentary Monash University travel insurance (covering the program and up to 15 days before and after)
What’s not included:
- Monash tuition fees (6 credit points)
- International airfares (approx. AUD $1,800–$3,200)
- Visa costs, if required (approx. AUD $0–$200)
- Accommodation outside program dates (approx. AUD $180–$350 per night)
- Meals not included in the itinerary (approx. AUD $25–$70 per meal)
- Personal expenses (e.g. shopping, additional transport, entertainment)
- Spending money (recommended AUD $800–$1,500)
- Medical expenses (which may be claimable via the insurance policy)
*Monash students will be enrolled in BEX3725/BEX5725 (6 credit points) and charged standard fees according to their verified funding status. This fee will appear on your Monash Fee Statement.
Travel insurance
If you are an actively enrolled Monash student and participating in an approved international program, you will be provided with complimentary travel insurance. You will automatically be covered once your application has been approved and your enrolment updated to reflect your study overseas.
Under this policy, travellers will also receive access to 24/7 emergency assistance provided by Global 24 Emergency Assistance and limited coverage for personal travel days.
Visas
Monash Abroad will issue you with supporting documentation to lodge your visa application once you have completed all Monash Abroad requirements and are approved for travel. If you require supporting documentation earlier in the process, please contact Monash Abroad.
Centrelink support documents
For the purposes of maintaining your Centrelink benefits during your overseas program, Monash Abroad will provide you with a letter confirming your participation in a study tour. Please note that this will be issued to you once you have completed all Monash Abroad requirements and are approved for travel.
Important Note:
The Monash Abroad Travel Grant and OS-HELP loan (if applicable) will be paid approximately 2-4 weeks prior to program commencement and only when all Monash Abroad requirements are completed by you. Therefore, these funds should not be considered as your primary source of funding to pay program related deposits and balances.
Monash Abroad Travel Grant
Monash students studying in Australia who are enrolled into a credit bearing unit for this program will be automatically assessed for eligibility to receive the Monash Abroad travel grant, There is no separate application for this grant as eligibility for the grant will be assessed as part of their application.
OS-HELP Loan
OS-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan program that provides financial assistance to eligible Commonwealth Supported Place students, to undertake some of their study overseas.
If you are eligible for the loan and wish to apply, please submit your application as per the relevant OS-HELP loan term deadline, even if you have not been accepted into your overseas program by that deadline.

Eligibility criteria
Undergraduate students
- Minimum WAM of 60%
- Completion of at least 72 credit points at the time of application.
Postgraduate students
- Minimum WAM of 60%
- Completion of at least 24 credit points at the time of application.
Selection criteria
As places are limited and demand is high, selection is competitive and based on:
- Weighted Average Mark (WAM)
- Video submission (2 minutes) addressing:
- Your motivation for participating
- How the program supports your degree and/or career goals.
Applicants must submit supporting documentation (e.g. CV and video) via a Google Drive link. Please ensure access permissions are granted to Monash University. The link should be included in the Personal Statement section of your application.

Step 1: Submit an application for this program

Step 2: Selection and enrolment
The Monash Business School will review all applicants after the deadline to assess eligibility to participate in this overseas. Please note that this generally takes two weeks after applications have closed.
Step 3: Additional data collection and travel approval
Once your application has been assessed, you will be issued with an outcome email. If you are successful, your outcome email will include a letter of offer that you will need to accept. The outcome email will also include two additional forms for you to complete:
1. Passport and medical details, and
2. Travel Approval Request Form.
Important note: you must have a valid passport that does not expire until at least six months after the program end date.
