The Catholic University of Leuven, in Flemish the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), was established in 1425 and is Belgium’s top ranked and oldest university. It is also the oldest Catholic university in the world. The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), one of 15 faculties, is considered one of the top business schools in the world.

Academic Highlights

The Faculty teaches an extensive range of degree subjects. At undergraduate level the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is taught in English and has a strong international focus. It is both hands-on and academic with key features being Management of Business Domains, Economic Analysis, Entrepreneurship and innovation, Professional skills and Employability, Behaviour, Society and Law. The various masters programs are taught entirely in English.

Location

Leuven is a city in the Belgian region of Flanders, about 25km from Brussels. Most of the BBA is taught at the Brussels campus. KU Leuven has four main campuses across Belgium but the main campus, the original university, is located in the centre of pretty and historic Leuven.

As a general rule, a student visa is required. KU Leuven provide some advice on visas, which can be found here.  Visas are handled by the Embassy of Belgium in Australia; see here for the relevant information. If you are not a citizen of Australia check with the Embassy where you must apply.

Health and insurance

When travelling on a Monash Abroad approved program, you are automatically covered under the Monash University Student Travel Insurance policy.  For ease of medical access, students also have the option of taking out a student self-insurance policy which covers any necessary medical treatment received, visit KU Leuven's webpage here for more information.

Orientation and extra-curricular

You are strongly recommended to attend the Orientation Days in the weeks before the commencement of studies.
