Note
- The listed disciplines are not necessarily exhaustive and other fields of study might also be available at the institution.
- Approval to study particular subjects at any institution is always at the discretion of the departmental/discipline and faculty advisers in your managing faculty(ies) and subject to available places at the host.
Accommodation
On-campus accommodation is available, but places are very limited and you are not guaranteed a room. In previous years, accommodation was offered to applicants on a "first-come-first-serve" basis. However due to growing demand for the limited places, starting from the Academic Year 2019/20, student accommodation will be allocated through a random ballot. Spots for accommodation are still not guaranteed, so you should be prepared to arrange your own off-campus accommodation, if necessary.
CityU also offers more advice on on-campus and off-campus accommodation.
Visas
As a general rule, if studying in Hong Kong, you will need to obtain a valid student visa/entry permit before arrival. After you are accepted for exchange, your host institution will submit your student visa application to the Hong Kong Immigration Department on your behalf. It normally takes six weeks or longer to process a student visa application, so it is advised that exchange students apply well in advance to ensure that their visa is issued before the beginning their exchange. Details and procedures of visa applications can be found at the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region here.
For more information on visas, please refer to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China here.
CityU also provides guidance on obtaining a student visa/entry permit.
