Situated in the bilingual and vibrant Montréal, HEC Montréal is the affiliated business school of the University of Montréal and, founded in 1907, is the oldest management school in Canada. HEC Montréal is an internationally renowned institution with expert academics in all management fields and has triple-crown accreditation for business schools.

Founded in 1907 by the Chambre de commerce du Montréal métropolitain, HEC Montréal, the French acronym for École des Hautes Études commerciales de Montréal, has become one of the top locations for management training and research in Canada. Units are taught in English, French or Spanish.

Academic restrictions
- Students are required to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits (four courses, may include one language course).
- Students are not permitted to study more than five Business courses per semester.
Language requirements
- French, English and Spanish are the languages of instruction at HEC Montréal. As an indication only, a minimum score of French TFI of 750 is recommended for students wishing to take Business courses in French. The score for Spanish is not currently published.

Accommodation
HEC Montréal provides information on a variety of accommodation options: on-campus residence halls, off-campus housing for exchange student and support for students seeking private accommodation.
Visas
As a general rule, Australian citizens do not need a study permit if they plan to participate in a university exchange program in Canada that lasts no more than six months. Every Australian citizen entering Canada for less than six months, however, will still require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) which can be purchased online. Health and insurance
It is compulsory for all incoming exchange students to purchase the Sun Life Company Health Insurance Plan from HEC Montréal. The Health Insurance Plan covers prescription drugs, medical and hospital expenses. No other private health insurance plan is accepted.
HEC provides further information on compulsory health insurance for exchange students.
When travelling on a Monash Abroad approved program, you are automatically covered under the Monash University Student Travel Insurance policy. This will provide cover to and from your exchange.
Cost of living
HEC Montréal estimated that exchange students will spend around $6,000-$7,000 CAD per semester.
