Jenna’s journey

Jenna hails from the Wiradjuri (weer-udge yoo-ree) Nation but was forced to move away at just three years old to escape domestic violence, seeking safety for herself and her mother.

As the first person in her family to attend university, Jenna’s journey is made possible by the support of people like you. Your generosity is helping her carve a path toward  a future dedicated to serving others in  rural communities.

Jenna has always been passionate about helping people, particularly in Indigenous communities. Her desire to make a difference deepened as she witnessed her mother’s experience, which inspired her to pursue a career in midwifery.

She realised the powerful impact a compassionate midwife can have on a patient, especially in vulnerable situations and felt called to provide quality maternal health care.

When Jenna discovered the Royal Flying Doctor Service, she immediately knew it was her calling. Providing essential healthcare to those in Australia’s most remote and rural areas is her ultimate dream.

However, the challenge of moving far from her family and the financial burden of university were daunting. As a single parent, Jenna’s mother was already doing everything she could to support her children, and funding Jenna’s education seemed out of reach. 

Thankfully because of the generosity of our alumni  and donors, Jenna received the support she needed to pursue her dreams. She is now studying a Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery.

Through the accommodation and living expenses scholarships Jenna was able to afford nursing equipment and study materials, which were essential to her success.

Jenna is incredibly grateful for the opportunity she’s been given, though words can hardly express her gratitude. She is determined to be a positive role model for her siblings, showing them  that they too can change their circumstances and shape their own future.

Thanks to Achieving Potential Scholarships, funded by our alumni and donors, Jenna is following her passion and will go on to make a meaningful impact on rural communities.
