Tori's story
Since she was a child, Tori has been fascinated by the wonders of the world. But despite her passion for engineering she was nervous about how she could enter this competitive field.
Tori was raised by a single parent and there wasn’t a lot of money to go around when she was growing up. But Tori’s mum was her greatest champion – especially when it came to education.
“She was there every step of the way through my studying journey,” Tori says.
We faced financial difficulty, but she always tried her best to provide a stable and supportive household for me to thrive in.”
When it came time to apply for university, Tori wanted to channel her love of maths and science into an engineering degree. Despite the financial setbacks, the generous gift of a scholarship gave Tori the courage to succeed.
I didn’t know if I had the confidence to succeed in engineering, but my scholarship has shown me that you are not defined by your background but rather your perseverance and individuality to dream big. Furthermore this scholarship has inspired me to make engineering innovations to improve lives and give back to society.”
