When David Sibenaler finished his Bachelor of Science at Monash in 2012, he made a pact that he would leave a gift in his Will to Monash as soon as he got a job. Two years later he made good on his promise.
“I’m presuming what a lot of bequestors have in common is that, like me, they had a really good time at Monash, that it changed their life”, he says. “Part of it is that it keeps me connected to those rich memories and experiences and connections.”
David also has first-hand experience of how valuable the role of bequestors can be.
“I came from a lower socio-economic background and went to a public high school in the country,” he says. “Not every student has a background of love and support and stability so they have to fight for themselves a little bit, which to a certain extent was my experience. So I know that these scholarships do make a difference. They do help.”
