Earlier this month, Monash President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Margaret Gardner AO, hosted the annual Matheson Society luncheon. Those who have generously decided to leave a gift in their will to support students and research projects at Monash University were celebrated and recognised by the event.
These wonderful attendees were treated to a special presentation from Dr Rebecca Segrave, Deputy Director of BrainPark. BrainPark is a world-first neuroscience research clinic dedicated to creating better outcomes for people with compulsive behaviours. Dr Segrave discussed current progressive research and revolutionary treatments of compulsive disorders, unhealthy habits, substance and behavioural addictions.
A highlight for many were the virtual reality techniques, explained by James Morrow, BrainPark Implementation Manager and demonstrated by Marcus Ward, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Monash University, that are breaking traditional mental health treatment barriers at BrainPark.
