Rhiarna's story

Rhiarna grew up on a dairy farm in rural Victoria with her family and she loved to dance. Unfortunately an ankle injury ended her dream prematurely of becoming a ballerina – and left her with big medical costs.

In the wake of this setback, Rhiarna turned to her studies and her love for learning about the body.

Rhiarna decided she wanted to become a nurse and Monash was her first preference – location and a close knit community like growing up in the country appealed to her. Rhiarna’s studies were very important to her but she was also working part time trying to maintain her on campus living costs.

Thanks to a Monash scholarship, Rhiarna can concentrate on studying and fulfil her passion and career path in a Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery.

Your support means she can focus on her studies without worrying about how she’s going to afford to take good care of herself.

The scholarship allowed me to work less, and concentrate on my studies.  I’ve been able to achieve excellence while still looking after myself throughout the year.”

“I used to get a lot of anxiety about caring for my injury and managing finances.”
