The Tess Hill and Bill Hawtin Jazz Music Scholarship was created through a bequest from Tess Hill and Bill Hawtin to financially support music students to further their careers.
For Gabriel, the scholarship funds musical instruments and accessories including reeds, stands, microphones and effects pedals which aid his practice and performance. Access to these resources has improved the quality of his performances and inspires him to practise harder to achieve higher marks in his assessments.
During his studies Gabriel has been able to join more ensembles and gain more playing experience because of the scholarship.
The funding will also allow Gabriel to travel overseas to Prato with the Music Exchange Program, providing invaluable insights into different worlds of music through workshops, networking and performance opportunities with well-regarded musicians.
