Monash University Alumni Insight Series: Adapting Practical Challenges in Real-World Cybersecurity

South Tangerang – On Friday, 21 February 2025, Monash University, Indonesia hosted an engaging and insightful event for Indonesian alumni, focusing on the latest cybersecurity issues in Indonesia. The Alumni Insight Series is a program designed for Indonesian alumni to come together and engage in discussions led by expert alumni on current issues in Indonesia.

The event brought together some of the brightest minds in the field, who shared their knowledge and practical strategies for tackling the evolving challenges in cybersecurity. The discussion was moderated by Rizka Widyarini Purwanto, Assistant Professor in Master of Cybersecurity Program at Monash University, Indonesia, with alumni experts, including:

  • Volvin Irawan, Head of IT Security at OCBC Indonesia
  • Christopher Hariman Rianto, CTO at Cyber Xpert Nusantara
  • Anggoro Basuki, Senior Cybersecurity Advisor at CIMB Niaga

The event was attended by 59 Indonesian alumni. The cybersecurity landscape in Indonesia is evolving rapidly, with industries facing increasingly sophisticated threats that demand agile and innovative solutions. Best practices highlight the importance of balancing regulatory compliance with proactive incident responses, investing in digital forensics, and fostering a continuous learning culture to tackle emerging challenges and close the cybersecurity talent gap. The event wasn’t just about insightful discussions; it was also an excellent networking opportunity.
