Aulia Dwi Nastiti
Postdoctoral Research Fellow (IFAR), Marketing and Digital Communications
Aulia Dwi Nastiti is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Research, Monash University, Indonesia. She is an Arryman Scholar and holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northwestern University. Her dissertation research and current book project proposes a framework to understand the dynamics of political and economic power of digital platform companies by exploring how gig platform firms assert proprietary knowledge and control over personal data, networks of social relations, and access to market infrastructure.
Aulia has interdisciplinary and multicultural academic experiences. She started with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication (magna cum laude) from Universitas Indonesia, and continuing with an M.A. in Cultural Studies from Université de Lyon 3, France, before pursuing doctoral programs in Political Science, at Northwestern University, in the United States. These experiences inform her research interests that mostly look at the relationship between digital technology and politics, governance, and power structure in market and society.
Prior to joining Monash University, Indonesia, Aulia’s professional experience bridges across academia and public-facing activism. She served as a researcher and content editor at Remotivi, an NGO research center on media and communication where she led studies on youth climate activism and media trust in motivating climate action. She has also held academic positions as a Visiting Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Buffett Institute of Global Studies, Northwestern University, and an Adjunct Lecturer in Media Studies at Universitas Indonesia. She has also worked as a research consultant for policy-oriented studies on digital governance, climate activism, and media trust. Her research experience spans various institutions, including the Indonesian Press Council, the Center for Communication Research at Universitas Indonesia, and German Asia Research Center.
