1. Apply for a Study Permit

If you are planning to study at Monash University, Indonesia, obtaining a Study Permit (Izin Belajar/IB) is the first step in securing your study visa and legally staying in Indonesia for the duration of your academic program. Below is a comprehensive guide to help you through the process.

The Study Permit is an official authorization from the Indonesian government, issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, allowing international students to study in Indonesia. Our student recruitement team, will assist you in applying for the Study Permit on your behalf.

Processing Time

The process of obtaining the Study Permit typically takes 5 to 7 working days. To ensure a smooth process, you should submit all required documents at least 12 weeks before your expected arrival date in Indonesia.

Required Documents for Study Permit Application

1. Letter of Acceptance

   A formal letter issued by Monash University, Indonesia, confirming your admission. (See the sample)

2. Copy of Your Passport (Personal Details Page)

   A clear color scan of the page containing your personal information (name, nationality, date of birth, passport number). The passport must be valid for at least 6 months).

3. Photograph
   • Passport-sized photo with formal attire and a neutral expression.
   • The photo size for an Indonesia visa should be 3.5cm x 4.5cm.
   • Solid white background with no patterns or shadows.
   • Face should cover 70-80% of the photo height.
   • Taken within the last 6 months.

4. CV or Resume

   A brief document outlining your academic and professional background.

5. Scan/Electronic Copy of Academic Transcript

   A digital copy of your most recent academic transcript.

6. Scan/Electronic Copy of Graduation Certificate (if applying for a full degree program)

   Proof that you have completed prior studies (e.g., undergraduate or postgraduate).

7. Health Certificate

   A certificate signed by a medical doctor and issued by a certified hospital, confirming you are fit to study in Indonesia. This certificate is valid for only 8 weeks from the date of issuance. Alternatively, you may submit a Health Statement Form if unable to provide this certificate.

8. Signed Financial Statement Form

   A document demonstrating that you have sufficient financial resources to cover your living expenses and studies in Indonesia. (Make a copy of this template)

   Official Bank Statement or Savings Account Records with min. balance of USD 2,000 or equivalent.

9. Signed Non-Political and Non-Working Statement Form

   A declaration stating that you will not engage in political activities or employment during your studies in Indonesia. (Make a copy of this template)

10. Guarantee Letter

    From a guarantor, which is an Indonesian citizen or the educational institution where foreigners carry out education. Monash University, Indonesia will provide the Guarantee Letter for you.

2. Apply for Indonesia Visa for Study Purposes

Once you received the Unconditional LoA and Study Permit from Monash University, Indonesia, the next step is applying for an Indonesia Visa. You can visit this official visa portal at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/. Below is a summarized guide to help you through the process of securing your visa and ensuring compliance with Indonesian immigration regulations.

Apply for a Study Visa

Once your study permit is approved, we will apply for the study visa for you. The study visa categories depend on your program:

• E30B: Undergraduate programs
• E30C: Master’s programs
• E30D: Doctoral programs

The price of an Indonesian visa for study purposes is around USD 150. But, this is subject to change.

Processing Time:

The visa application typically takes 7–10 working days after payment confirmation.

Key Details:

• The initial visa allows entry into Indonesia and a stay of up to 30 days.
• You must use the visa to enter Indonesia within 60 days of its issuance; otherwise, it will expire.

Convert Your Visa into an ITAS (Limited Stay Permit)

Upon arrival in Indonesia, you must convert your study visa into an ITAS (Limited Stay Permit). This step is essential for legally staying in Indonesia beyond the initial 30-day period. The process involves:

• Biometric data collection at the airport or local immigration office.
• Submission of required documents facilitated by Monash University, Indonesia.

1. Apply for Limited Stay Permit (ITAS)

The Limited Stay Permit/ITAS (Izin Tinggal Terbatas) is a mandatory document for international students studying at Monash University, Indonesia, allowing them to reside legally in the country for the duration of their academic program. Below is a step-by-step guide to obtaining your ITAS based on the latest regulations.

Arrival and Biometric Procedure

Starting January 9, 2024, the ITAS application process has been streamlined and now takes place at Indonesia's points of entry (e.g., airports). Hence, students can apply by themselves upon arrival in the airport:

1. Report to the immigration checkpoint.
2. Undergo a biometric procedure, which includes fingerprinting and having your photograph taken.
3. Receive an arrival sticker in your passport as confirmation of your entry.

Electronic ITAS and Re-entry Permit

After completing the biometric procedure:

• Your ITAS and Re-entry Permit (IMK) will be processed electronically.
• These documents will be sent to your sponsor at Monash University, who will forward them to you via email.
• Print both the ITAS and IMK documents and keep them with you at all times along with your passport.

Re-entry Permit (IMK): This permit allows you to leave and re-enter Indonesia multiple times during the validity of your ITAS without needing a new visa.

ITAS Validity and Fees

Monash University requires students to obtain a 24-month ITAS. The fees are as follows:

• 12-month ITAS: IDR 2,500,000* (includes multiple re-entry permit).
• 24-month ITAS: IDR 3,750,000* (includes multiple re-entry permit).

ITAS Extension Process

If your ITAS is about to expire before completing your studies, you can apply for an extension. Start the extension process at least 6 weeks before expiration. Please reach out our student experience team or student recruitment team and our team will assist you to extend your ITAS. Required documents include:

• Current ITAS.
• Passport copy.
• Police Registration Letter (STM).
• Temporary Residence Card (SKTT).

Important Reminders

1. Always monitor your ITAS expiration date and begin renewal processes early.
2. Carry your printed ITAS, IMK, and passport when traveling within or outside Indonesia.
3. Ensure you have a valid Re-entry Permit if planning to leave Indonesia during your studies.

2. Apply for STM and SKTT

International students at Monash University, Indonesia, are required to obtain two important documents: the Surat Tanda Melapor (STM) and the Surat Keterangan Tempat Tinggal (SKTT). The STM is a Police Registration Letter that confirms your presence in Indonesia as an international student. The STM is typically issued on the same day if all documents are complete. Here’s how to apply:
