Operating with the full support of both the Indonesian and Australian governments, Monash's Indonesian campus plays a key regional role in fostering research collaborations and partnerships with the Indonesian academic community., advanced professional development for graduates, and commercial opportunities for industry.

Monash University, Indonesia offers Bachelor’s (S1), Master’s (S2), and Doctorate (PhD/S3) programs, all accredited in Australia through TEQSA and recognised by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. In addition, we provide executive programs and micro-credentials that address high-demand fields and future sustainability priorities, including public policy and management, marketing and digital communications, business innovation, global business, data science and sustainability.

Monash and Indonesia engagement: Key milestones in our history

1900s View

2000s View

2014: Establishment of the Australia-Indonesia Centre (AIC) – a bilateral research consortium of 11 Australian and Indonesian universities to advance people-to-people and institutional links in science, technology, education and innovation. An initiative of the Australian Government, the AIC is managed by Monash.
2016: Our first office in Jakarta – the Monash Indonesia Representative Office – was established through our Global Engagement portfolio.
2016 onwards: Launch of a major research project called Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE), where a new water sensitive approach to water sanitation management is being trialled to strengthen the whole-of-life water and sanitation cycle in informal settlements across Makassar, Indonesia and Suva, Fiji.
2018: Monash Herb Feith Indonesian Engagement Centre was established, a dynamic platform for developing strong collaborations and exchange between academic researchers, creative industry, and government, industry and alumni leaders from across Monash and Indonesia.
2020: Monash University’s Indonesia campus became an official legal entity in Indonesia and was granted a licence to operate by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. Monash University, Indonesia is the first international, foreign owned University with an in-country campus.
2021: Monash University, Indonesia launched the first four master's degree programs: business innovation, public policy and management, data science, and urban design.
2022: Monash University, Indonesia introduced two new master's programs, master of cybersecurity and master of public health. We also released our annual report 2022.
2023: Monash University, Indonesia marked significant academic milestones with the graduation of its first cohort since opening in 2021. The campus has grown to enroll 147 students across six master’s programs and has further expanded its academic offerings with the launch of a PhD program supported by the Inspire Doctoral Scholarship.
2024: Monash University, Indonesia continued to strengthen its academic and student experience by expanding global learning opportunities. Through the newly launched Australia Exchange Program and Australia Leadership Program—both part of the Global Mobility portfolio—students can now study in Australia while paying Indonesian tuition fees.
2025: Monash University, Indonesia continues to strengthen its contribution to national development through the launch of new academic offerings, including the master of sustainability, double master's programs, and three undergraduate programs: the Bachelor of Digital Business, the Bachelor of Information Technology, and the Bachelor of Design.
