Riza Casidy holds a joint appointment as Professor of Business at Monash University, Indonesia, and Monash Business School, Australia. He holds a PhD in Marketing and a Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Marketing from Monash University.

Before joining Monash, Riza was Professor of Marketing at Macquarie University. He has more than 20 years of experience in Australian higher education, with academic appointments at Swinburne University of Technology, Deakin University and Macquarie University. At Macquarie, he served as Director of Teaching in 2019 and Director of Research from 2020 to 2024. Having attained full professorship at the age of 38, he is recognised as one of the youngest Indonesians to achieve this rank in Australia.

Riza’s research lies at the intersection of business strategy and consumer behaviour, with a particular focus on how ideological beliefs shape decision-making in business-to-consumer and business-to-business contexts. He has published more than 60 articles in leading FT50, A* and A-ranked journals, including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Service Research, Industrial Marketing Management, European Journal of Marketing and Journal of Business Ethics. He also serves as an Associate Editor and editorial board member for leading journals. Riza has been recognised among the world’s top 2% of marketing researchers in the Stanford University–Elsevier Top Scientists List. Riza has undertaken consulting work for organisations in Indonesia and Australia across the insurance, food and hospitality, and not-for-profit sectors. These engagements inform his research and teaching by connecting scholarly insights with contemporary business challenges.

An award-winning educator, Riza adopts a scholarly and practice-oriented approach that integrates research with real-world applications. His awards include Deakin University’s Faculty of Business and Law Award for Effectiveness, Excellence and Exemplary Practice in Teaching and Learning in 2014, an award for outstanding contribution as Bachelor of Business Course Director in 2017, and Macquarie University’s Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2022. He has taught subjects including consumer behaviour, marketing management, marketing research methods, strategic management and corporate sustainability management.
