Monash University, Indonesia and Bappeda Leverage Banten Mosaic for Collaborative Urban and Regional Planning

Serang, Banten – In a significant initiative for regional development, Bappeda (the Regional Development Planning Agency) recently hosted a number of university rectors from across Banten Province for a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The primary objective of this gathering was to foster collaboration between government and academic research to enhance the implementation of Banten’s Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD).

The Focus Group was chaired by Dr. Mahdani, SE, ST, M.Si, MM, Head of Bappeda, who underscored the importance of leveraging local academic expertise to more closely support the development goals of Banten.

Professor Stephen Cairns represented Monash University, Indonesia, highlighting the role of the Banten Mosaic data commons as a shared resource for strategic planning and policy development. He demonstrated techniques being developed within the Banten Mosaic platform to improve researcher access to both existing and emerging data sources, and how this could enhance discussions and decision-making related to Banten’s strategic development goals.

The collaborative efforts initiated in this meeting mark a promising step forward in enhancing regional development through knowledge-driven initiatives.
