Monash University, Indonesia's Public Health Competition: Fostering Innovation for a Healthier Future

South Tangerang – In a groundbreaking initiative to address pressing public health issues, Monash University, Indonesia, in collaboration with Sinar Mas Land and Digital Hub BSD City, recently hosted an innovative public health competition. This event aimed to cultivate critical thinking and creativity among participants, challenging them to analyse existing public health problems and propose potential solutions.
The competition, themed "Health Innovation Challenge: Shaping A Better Future Communities," attracted participants from Sinar Mas Land, its tenants, and University Partners. It offered a unique platform for aspiring public health professionals to showcase their skills and gain insights into Monash University, Indonesia's Master of Public Health program.

Participants underwent a rigorous selection process, which included submitting an Expression of Interest Form, taking the MEPT test, and composing an essay on one of four critical themes:
- Urban Health: Exploring current issues in urban health in Indonesia
- Digital Health: Examining the role of digital health and artificial intelligence in enhancing health and wellness
- Housing for a Healthy Future: Investigating design approaches for public health-oriented housing complexes, with a focus on the aging population
- Health Inequities: Analyzing the interaction between health status disparities and the distribution of health resources, demographic, and socio-economic characteristics
After careful evaluation by Master of Public Health academics, three outstanding winners emerged:
- Ayu Aditya Andayani from EKA Hospital (Part of Sinar Mas Group)
- Jeremiah Hilkiah Wijaya from Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH)
- Gregorius Bimantoro from Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya
These winners have been awarded full scholarships for the Master of Public Health program at Monash University, Indonesia, along with IDR 5 million in cash prizes. They will join the MPH class in October 2024, with an official inauguration on September 28, 2024 in conjunction with the Orientation Day event.
This competition underscores Monash University, Indonesia's commitment to developing Indonesia's human resources across various aspects including in the health sector.
