Science, Technology, Environment, and Policy Studies (STEPS)

Welcome to STEPS
The Science, Technology, Environment, and Policy Studies (STEPS) is a networking group where students and scholars question the effects of growing domination of science and technology in human interaction and environment change across the globe. STEPS is a networking group initiated by the research fellows of Monash Indonesia, who are part of the Institute For Advanced Research (IFAR) consortium. The research fellows collaborate closely with colleagues at Monash University, Indonesia and the Arryman Program at Northwestern University. STEPS welcomes scholars from other institutions in Indonesia and other countries to engage in our knowledge exchange events.
What we do
STEPS promotes multidisciplinary approaches from the humanities and social sciences to study sociocultural and environmental changes wrought by science, technology, and policy. At STEPS, students and scholars from different disciplines are encouraged to exercise the intersectional lens that pushes scholars to answer their research questions from new and different perspectives. These perspectives include postcolonial, decolonial, feminist, disability, environmental justice, social justice, and many others.
