Inclusion benefits everybody

Bridget and Morgan met as part of AllPlay Dance, a unique and collaborative research project led by Monash Professor Nicole Rinehart.

AllPlay Dance was designed to increase the opportunities for young people with disability to be included in dance. More than five years on, this film captures the long-lasting impact of the program on both girls.

A program designed for impact

AllPlay Dance is an initiative that is all about fostering and enabling more opportunities for children with disability and developmental challenges to participate in community dance programs.

Like its counterpart AllPlay Footy, the dance program draws on the latest research findings and the work of experts to develop inclusive approaches and supports. This includes work with parents, health professionals and teachers.

"There are so many things about living with a developmental disability or challenge that you can’t do anything about. But this is something that is cost-effective. This is something that makes kids happy, says Monash researcher and founder of the program Professor Nicole Rinehart. This is something that we can do tomorrow that could literally change the lives of children, not just in Australia but all around the world."
