Nursing and Midwifery academic Samantha ScottMasters (Mental Health Nursing), GradCertNurs (Gerontics), GradDipNurs (Mental Health), RN

Clinically, Samantha has been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years, initially working in theatre and medical wards, then completed post graduate qualifications specialising in Mental Health and Aged Care. This has included then working in mental health inpatient units (both general and high dependency, SECU, psychogeriatric) and community team specialising in older clients and those who had been within mental health services for many years. Alongside these clinical roles, Samantha also worked part time for several years as a Quality coordinator, managing accreditation processes and successfully aiding 2 organisations through several accreditations, working with teams to conduct various quality improvement projects and assisting with governing risk.

Educationally, Samantha began as a preceptor- often taken students within her clinical roles and held the student clinical placement portfolio when working in community mental health for many years- ensuring students had supports whilst on placement. She become a clinical placement educator in the TAFE sector and then moved to the tertiary sector, starting to teach for Monash University in 2017 as a teaching associate.
