Research - Nursing and Midwifery
Our research strengthens nursing and midwifery practice, by using evidence-based, industry and consumer informed research.
Representing the largest proportion of clinicians in the healthcare workforce, nurses and midwives have significant impacts on patient care and their health outcomes. They also provide a critical link with other medical and allied health professionals that enables continuity of care for patients.
Monash Nursing and Midwifery research academics and students are engaged in improving knowledge and implementing changes to practice in current areas and issues of priority including: ageing and aged care, emergency care, infection prevention and control, mental health and women’s health. They are also leading research in collaboration with industry and consumers to develop and apply novel technologies and curriculum for our growing workforce.
Our education and research sees us rank highly as one of Australia’s leading nursing schools. Ranked equal #3 in the world (equal #1 in Australia) for nursing in the Shanghai Ranking (ARWU) Global Rankings of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2023, with a current ERA ranking of 4 (above world standard), and a 2023 rank of #15 globally for nursing in the QS World University Rankings.
