Consumer participation in care

Human-centred design methods with health professionals of different disciplines, patients, and their families. These methods are used to identify problems and implement collaborative solutions to address challenges in health care.

These methods are used to supporting patients and families to improve their involvement with healthcare activities, particularly across transitions of care including the community, acute care, subacute care, and residential aged care facilities. These methods are particularly important in understanding the complexities of consumer participation in priority populations, such as older people, individuals living with a disability, those living with dementia, or those of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
