Our Graduate Certificate of Prescribing for Midwives is offered by flexible mode, meaning you can attend on campus or online depending on your commitments and location.

* To enable CSP funding, the Graduate Certificate of Prescribing for Midwives as a part of the Master of Advanced Midwifery, which is offered in conjunction with the Master of Advanced Nursing. On completion of the required units of study, you will be awarded a Graduate certificate of prescribing for midwives.
You must study both of these units to fulfil the requirements of the Graduate Certificate.

NUR5208 – Therapeutic medication management
Overview
NUR5208 builds the pharmacological and therapeutic knowledge required for safe, effective prescribing within midwifery practice. The unit covers medication management across body systems, legal and ethical obligations, and the broader social and cultural factors influencing safe use of medicines.

You will study part-time. The course duration is 1 year.
If you choose to continue your studies in the Master of Advanced Midwifery, you can choose to study full-time or part-time. The course duration is 1, 1.5 or 2 years full-time depending on prior qualifications.

A full-time study load is 24 credit points of study, which equates to 48 hours of facilitated and self-directed learning including tutorials and online activities per week.
Real-time scheduled learning ranges from 12-24 hours per unit per 12-week semester (offered as a hybrid option), with the remainder made up of own time study using the online learning management system.
