Korean Language Beginners Diagnostic Fun Quiz

This is a Korean grammar and lexis testing quiz that has been developed by the Monash University Virtual and Extended Reality (VARS) Team at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute and Monash University Korean Studies Research Hub.

This is a lighthearted Korean Language game with 26 mini quizzes to test your Korean vocabulary knowledge; topics varying from greetings, numbers, nouns to basic grammar.

Instructions:

  • The quiz contains a mixed of multiple choice and short answer questions, so be prepared to type in Korean
  • Please make sure your answers have the correct spelling and word spacing to obtain a full mark
  • Make sure you complete the questions within the given time
  • Please keep track of your score for each quiz to find your final diagnosis

  • Note: there is an error in the ‘Number’ quiz. The answer to the question “I’m 54 years old (pure)” is incorrect [저는 쉰다섯 (55) 살 입니다]. The answer should be 저는 쉰네 살 입니다.

Diagnosis 

Average score of 80-100 out of 100 on most quizzes:

Amazing self-studying skills! You would be able to start Intermediate Korean level in no time! You are able to identify, read and write Korean characters, correctly use word-spacing, able to match up Korean words to their English translations (vice versa), and have a great knowledge of basic Korean grammar and vocabulary.

Average score of 50-70 out of 10 on most quizzes:

Good job! Half way through your beginner level journey!
You are able to recognise many fundamental Korean words and phrases from the quiz, can write simple Korean words, and are able to match up some Korean words to their English translations (vice versa).

Average score of less than 50 out of 100 on most quizzes:

Excellent baby steps into starting Korean language! You are able to recognise a few fundamental Korean words and phrases, and you are able to put together some Hangul consonants and vowels to write simple Korean words. Keep up the great work!
