Professor Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad became the Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein in 2018.

After graduating from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (FEUI)  in 1983, Professor Hadad began his 25-year career at Indonesia’s Central Bank in 1984, developing a track record as an accomplished business strategist, progressing to the role of deputy governor from 2006-2012.

Professor Hadad continued his academic pursuits during his professional career, completing a Master of Public Administration at Harvard University, before earning his doctorate at Monash in 1996 from the Faculty of Business and Economics.

With his experience and academic credentials, Professor Hadad became the natural candidate to establish Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) as the country's first independent financial sector regulator from 2012-2017.

Beyond his official duties, Professor Hadad has been an active volunteer supporting initiatives to improve financial governance in Indonesia, and was instrumental in advancing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Banking Integration Framework under the ASEAN economic integration program, culminating in the signing of an agreement with Malaysia.

Professor Hadad was Chairman of Indonesia Economist Association (ISEI) from 2016-2017 and Islamic Economic Community (MES) from 2011-2017. He has written books and journals – some published overseas – and spoke at numerous international fora on the subject of financial regulation and supervision, change management, banking efficiency and competition, financial inclusion and technology and economic diplomacy.
