Access a rich collection

We have a massive collection of print and electronic resources available for you to borrow or access online as a Monash student. We’ve got over 2 million books and over 1.1 million electronic resources, including e-books and e-journals. You can borrow from any of our six libraries.

Three quick tips that may be helpful:

Prepare for study

The Library has resources to help you get started and approach your course the right way from the get-go.

Learning at university may be different from what you’re used to. Check out tips on making the most of your lectures, labs and tutorials. Discover the best way to approach your studies.

Develop your research and study skills

As well as Library modules and programs in your course, there are additional programs focusing on essential research and study skills, like writing for assignments, analysing and arguing your points, how to cite and reference correctly, and why it matters.

You can also drop in to a Library Research and Learning point for a 15-minute consultation with a learning skills adviser or librarian.

What students say:

"The Learning Skills Adviser gave me detailed answers to my many questions on citation and referencing - so helpful, and left me in a much better position with my studies."

“The Library's resources and wonderful classes have really helped me get to know what to do for my assignment, and I have done really well."

"A huge thank-you for helping me with my study skills. My last set of results were all Distinctions. I couldn't have managed it all on my own."

Find a study space

Our libraries are some of the most popular places on campus, offering conducive spaces for individual and group study. They provide computer access, power and Wi-Fi, and facilities for collaborative work.

The recently refurbished Matheson Library at Clayton campus and Caulfield Library have bookable discussion rooms, all with audio-visual technology, plus open spaces providing large tables and screens to share.

Explore the Matheson and Caulfield libraries via our 360-degree virtual tours before you hit the pavement and visit!

Remember, physical tours run at all libraries during Orientation Week.

Visit the Library

We look forward to seeing you at the Library. When you visit:

  • consider other students. There is plenty of space to share, so please do not leave your belongings to save a desk or computer.
  • help us keep our spaces clean by bringing in only drinks with lids, and no hot, greasy or messy food.

When you’re not on campus, you can still access the Library online anytime, anywhere. If you have any questions or need assistance, go to to check frequently asked questions or submit an enquiry.
