Why Choose The Education in Healthcare Specialisation?
The Education in healthcare specialisation is built around two core 12-credit-point units designed to build your teaching expertise and leadership capability in clinical and academic settings. On successful completion of both units, you will be eligible to graduate with a Graduate Certificate of Advanced Nursing.
Education in health care practice
In this unit you will explore a range of theoretical underpinnings that impact upon the educational process in health care practice with emphasis placed on educational learning theories. You will apply theoretical learning to teaching practice through design, plan and delivery of a teaching practicum and reflecting on their role as a teacher within your own clinical practice. This unit will examine flexible and innovative teaching strategies for both classroom and clinical teaching and supervision experiences in a variety of contexts, including inter-professional education.
Education program development
Health professions’ educators need to acquire knowledge and skills to assess, design and develop contemporary, learner-centred education programs. This unit will introduce you to health education research and scholarship that supports evidence-based teaching and learning practices. You will work through the process of education program development and apply evidence-based teaching and learning strategies relevant to an education context. It will also prepare you with the knowledge and skills to comprehensively assess and evaluate the outcomes of the education program.
