Management and leadership in healthcare practice
Through this unit, you'll explore how healthcare organisations are governed, how policy shapes professional practice, and how effective leaders influence outcomes for patients, teams and services. You'll examine contemporary approaches to workforce and resource management, including the impact of emerging technologies, healthcare reform and changing social and political priorities. Building on this foundation, you'll learn how to apply strategic planning and operational management principles to improve healthcare delivery and service development. A strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration will help you develop the leadership capabilities needed to work effectively across diverse healthcare teams, preparing you to confidently lead people, projects and services in a complex and evolving healthcare environment.
Clinical Leadership in healthcare
Leading improvement and innovation in the quality and safety of health care
You'll develop the knowledge and practical skills to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of healthcare services. You'll explore the history and evolution of healthcare improvement, alongside contemporary approaches to innovation and service excellence. Guided by the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, you'll learn how to use modern technologies, data and improvement methodologies to identify areas for enhancement, address clinical performance gaps, and design person-centred solutions that improve healthcare experiences and outcomes. Through real-world application, you'll gain the capability to lead quality improvement initiatives and drive meaningful change across healthcare settings.

Financial management in healthcare
In this unit you will examine the basic accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and financial business planning concepts applicable to the healthcare sector, and how they are used by healthcare professionals to aid strategic, operational and service delivery decision making.
You need to completed 24 credit points for this specialisation and on successful completion, you will be eligible to graduate with a Graduate certificate of advanced clinical nursing.
