Palliative and end of life care

Our palliative care specialisation goes beyond theory, combining evidence-based practice with real-world clinical application to help you make a meaningful difference to patients and families. Guided by experienced nurse leaders and experts in the field, you'll develop advanced knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to lead compassionate, person-centred care across a range of healthcare settings. With a strong focus on collaboration, leadership, and contemporary palliative care practice, you'll be equipped to improve outcomes for patients, families, carers, and healthcare teams.

We offer:

• Hybrid teaching available if you are unable to attend on campus classes
• Incorporated pathophysiology where you can apply theory to practice. Pathophysiology knowledge underpins all our content as we recognise the importance of this to understanding the ‘why’ aspects of assessment and care
• Skills learning opportunities – practice, learn new things and extend knowledge of already acquired skills
• Supported self-directed learning activities
• Active learning strategies that will offer you the opportunity to participate and reflect on the activities to enhance your critical thinking capabilities.

Our course adopts a blended learning approach, which allows you to engage in your learning online and participate in tutorial and/or simulation classes. We offer a flexible approach to attendance for tutorial and/or simulation classes.

The Palliative and end of life care specialisation:

• Contains a small number of core units of study and your choice of electives so that you can study what interests you
• Includes a Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma exit option for those who wish to obtain a degree earlier
• Is flexible, with recorded and live learning options, available online or in person, so you can balance study with your other commitments.
• Uses a variety of assessment modes so that you can demonstrate your learning in authentic ways
• The Master of Advanced Nursing provides a research stream option so that you can plan a future PhD.
