Monash BDI researcher honoured by Academy Fellowship

Professor Jian Li FAA, FAHMS is one of five Monash Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences (MNHS) researchers who have been elected as new Fellows of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS), the nation’s learned academy for the most influential experts in health and medicine.

Fellows were elected in recognition of their outstanding achievements and exceptional contributions to the health and medical sector, and were acknowledged for their clinical, non-clinical, leadership, industry and research contributions.

This follows Professor Li's recent election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.

Professor Li has an internationally-recognised track record in the pharmacology of polymyxins and the discovery of novel, safer antimicrobial peptides. He is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and the American Academy of Microbiology and is the head of the Antimicrobial Systems Pharmacology Laboratory at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. He is a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher in Pharmacology & Toxicology (2015 - 2017, 2022), and an editor-in-chief of The International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents. He is an invited reviewer for 190 international journals and grant and fellowship applications for the National Health and Medical Research Council, Australian Research Council and 26 international funding bodies.
